Bill spent most of his working life in the pipeline, driving a side boom, which had him travelling all across Canada & the States. Bill married Arlene in 1970 in Ontario & started their life together in Alberta, where they had 2 children. A lot of his knowledge came from stamp collecting.
Anyone who spent time with Bill knew how interesting & intelligent he was. Predeceased by his parents Owen and Irene Dodds of Ailsa Craig, Ontario & his sister Dorothy & brother Carl.īill spent the first few years of his adult life in the US & Canadian Navy, which he spent travelling by ship to many countries, which he really enjoyed. It is with sorrow the family of Bill Dodds announce that he passed away on Monday, Decemat Fairvern Nursing Home with family at his side in his 79th year. In lieu of Flowers and to honour his memory donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Gone before him and awaiting him on another shore are his parents Clarence and Alice, his sisters Margaret and Lois, and his brothers and sisters-in-law George, Francis, and Fred.Ī celebration of his life will be held in January at a date and time to be announced. He leaves behind his wife of forty-six years Margret (nee Wilson), his children April and Sherri, grandchildren McAyla, Ayden, and Caitlin, his sister Barbra, and his sisters and brothers-in-law Lillian and her husband Gerald, Fern, Sandra, Robert, and Cathy (Kate), and many nieces and nephews especially Debbie and Dale. He cared passionately about his local community, especially his birthplace of Bracebridge, where he proudly attended the annual fall fair of, well into his 80s. He enjoyed being told stories in person, through film (especially War Movies and Westerns), and Music (especially Country Music). The last few years as his body weakened, his mind did not, and he recalled the great moments of his life with those who loved him. He had a life well spent in love of his family, Canadian War History, the outdoors, and the Muskoka area. The Searle family want to extend their warmest appreciation to Glen’s doctors and the entire staff at Hospice for caring for our son. The Huntsville Hospice is an amazing facility and should be supported to continue the care and personal touch of the staff. He suffered many physical injuries over the years in his chosen field but continued to work hard to support his children. Glen graduated from Huntsville High School and went on to achieve a college degree from Canadore College in North Bay in the construction field. Glen is predeceased by his oldest son Dylan who passed away in February 2019 in PEI. The Searle family have lived in Huntsville for 43 years on property on beautiful Skeleton Lake. He had 3 siblings, Sharon, Stephen and Shelley.
Glen had four children: Dylan, Cody, Jonathan and Katherine. Glen fought Cancer for 3 months but lost the battle a few days before Christmas and 7 days before his daughter Katherine turned 16. Parents Tom and Barb Searle were saddened to announce the passing of their 56-year-old son Glen at Algonquin Grace Hospice in Huntsville on December 23, 2019. Cremation has taken place and a funeral service for Marion will be held at St. Marion will also be fondly remembered for her kindnesses and lively sense of humour by an extended family of many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Now she will be reunited with her departed parents Frank and Stella Yantha of Whitney as well as her dear sisters Gladys Dubreuil, Rita Groomes and Vivian Fleetham.
